A commitment to innovation, creativity, durability and timelessness, Service Projects creates products that elevate our everyday. While in Copenhagen, we spoke to Service Projects founder, Philip to learn more about the story behind our favourite tableware.
RIISE: Can you share the story behind Service Projects with us?
PS: It started when I was walking around in New York City and had the idea of selling stainless steel items to private customers — something that, in Denmark, was mostly known from professional kitchens. That’s the very short version of a longer story.
RIISE: Where do you find inspiration for the designs?
PS: Mostly in everyday life. We take a very functional approach and aim for multi-functionality in many ways. Inspiration comes from the places we enjoy visiting ourselves, from cooking at home, and from observing how things work in industrial kitchens. We think about how to elevate a product so it’s both highly functional and beautiful, without it “speaking” too much.
How and why do you choose your materials?
PS: We spend a lot of time deciding on the right materials, always starting from a functional standpoint. We ask ourselves: should a French Press be double-walled to keep coffee hot for longer, or do we want to make terracotta pieces that can go in the oven, or single-wall stainless steel that works just as well in the oven? Every choice is intentional, with both durability and functionality in mind.
RIISE: How does Service Projects help us elevate our everyday?
PS: We try to strike a balance between good design and effortlessness — the kind of product you don’t overthink, but naturally reach for because you know it works and looks good. At the same time, it always serves the purpose it was made for.
