RIISE presents Wellness Hacks — a continuing exploration of the rituals and rhythms that shape a well-lived life. In this second edition, we invite a friend of RIISE to share the intentional practices that ground them in balance, vitality, and clarity - from morning moments to evening rituals

Australian model and actress Helena Vestergaard balances motherhood with her public presence, using her platform not only for style and lifestyle content but also to address issues like body image, mental health awareness, and mindful living.
Her journey from dance and early artistic ambitions to international modelling success and advocacy, paints a portrait of a modern, multifaceted woman navigating personal and professional identity with authenticity and grace. We are excited for her to share her wellness hacks with us.

RIISE: What do you do upon waking?

Helena: I always drink 2 glasses of warm water first thing and do a little lymphatic drainage massage on my main lymph points as I’m very prone to morning puffiness.

RIISE: What is your first drink of the day?

Helena: Water water water! Then I know everyone says not to, but I love having my coffee before breakfast. I have it with cow’s milk and sometimes I add ghee and honey so there’s some fats in there to absorb the caffeine.

RIISE: What do you have for breakfast?

Helena: My go to breakfast is scrambled eggs with butter, with a side of avocado and sour kraut.

RIISE: Do you have a health hack you would like to share?

Helena: Probably just a couple of glasses of quite warm water first thing, it really helps with digestion and morning hydration, which I find really helpful.

RIISE: How do you ensure you have peaceful moments throughout the day?

Helena: I’m in the car a lot and I find driving with no music or even a podcast gives me a moment of quiet to think. When you’re a parent that’s a rarity.

RIISE: What is your skincare hack?

Helena: I don’t think I have a hack, but I love to do cosmetic acupuncture to boost the blood flow and help drain the lymph, which in turn makes for healthier looking skin.

RIISE: How do you maintain an attitude of gratitude?

"Every now and then I try to just stop and make a mental list of all the incredible things I have in my life and how grateful I should be."

RIISE: Do you have a favourite lunch to energise you?

Helena: I love a salad with a protein. Or veggies with a protein, I find this makes me feel clean and not sluggish like if I were to eat a big rice bowl or sandwich.

RIISE: What supplements can’t you live without?

Helena: NAC (N-Acetylcysteine), NMN (Nicotinamide mononucleotide), GABA (Gamma-aminobutyric acid), Ashwagandha and extra strength liquid vitamin C when I’m under the weather.

RIISE: Do you have a mindfulness ritual?

Helena: Yoga is my main ritual that helps me to stay mindful.

RIISE: What have you done recently to improve your health and longevity?

Helena: I’m trying to stress less! I get way too stressed and overwhelmed so I’ve been trying to calm my mind and not worry as much.

RIISE: What herbal teas do you swear by?

Helena: You can’t go wrong with a lemon and ginger.

RIISE: Do you have a sleep hack?

Helena: I actually suffer from insomnia panic attacks, so I have to be really careful with my bedtime routine as to not overstimulate myself. I would say less is more for me, I take my bedtime supplements (night magnesium and NAC/GABA) then I don’t look at my phone after 6pm.

RIISE: What’s the last thing you do before you go to sleep?

Helena: Kiss and cuddle my kids, then I always try to wee no matter what because waking up in the middle of the night to pee is a trigger for me and my brain to start thinking about all the unnecessary things.
