BUYER'S NOTES:

This is a book about becoming the person you were born to be. It doesn’t matter what your starting point is, change is possible.

In this deeply personal and practical guide, RIISE founder, Sara Bell, introduces a transformative approach to re-parenting yourself - by consciously creating an imaginary parent: a steady, compassionate inner voice who guides, reassures, and holds you accountable when it matters most. Through intimate memoirs and grounded methodology, this book shows you how to rewrite your internal dialogue and become the safe, supportive presence you have always longed for.

If you’ve been searching for how to stop overthinking, you’ll learn how to interrupt spirals by shifting into the calm authority of this inner parent. If you want to know how to reduce anxiety, you’ll discover how to self-soothe in moments of stress, replacing panic with grounded reassurance. For those ready to break bad habits, this book reveals how consistent, compassionate self-guidance is far more powerful than criticism or willpower. You’ll also learn how to communicate better - starting with the way you speak to yourself - so that your external relationships become clearer, calmer, and more honest. Through this lens, you’ll understand how to deal with toxic relationships, set boundaries without guilt, and step out of patterns that no longer serve you.

At its core, this is a guide to learning how to be happy by becoming your own source of stability, kindness, and truth. Not by silencing your inner voice—but by transforming it into one that finally feels like home.

This is not just a book you read. It’s a voice you learn to trust.

    Such a powerful read!

Sara Bell’s It Starts With You is a powerful guide to changing the way you speak to yourself. Part memoir, part practical manual, the book walks you through Bell’s process of 're‑parenting'. She shows how you can replace a harsh, reactive inner commentary with a compassionate voice that can help you to heal learnt patterns of behaviour. This is the kind of book you can return to over and over again. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to build a kinder inner dialogue.

    Fantastic and life-changing book!

Everyone should read this! I cannot recommend this more highly. Not only is the content incredibly useful to people from all different walks of life but it is incredibly well written. I really enjoyed the way the author used moments in her life as anecdotes and learning experiences for the readers. I can't wait to read her next book!

    Incredible read!

I used to read a lot of self-help but fell off it a couple of years ago, most of it started feeling the same. I'm really glad this was the book that pulled me back in. There's something about the way Sara writes that just cuts through. She's built this incredible life externally but she's so unflinchingly honest about the inner mess that existed alongside it. Reading it felt like a quiet permission slip. To look at the parts of yourself you've been avoiding. To actually do the work rather than just understand it intellectually, which I think is where a lot of us get stuck. I finished it feeling genuinely motivated rather than overwhelmed. If it's been a while since something made you want to look inward, this is a good place to start.

    Life changing read

Reading this changed the way I view trauma and healing. For so long, I saw trauma as something that permanently shaped the way I think, react, and move through relationships. This book helped me realise that healing isn’t about “fixing” yourself it’s about learning to meet yourself with compassion instead of criticism. And how your inner voice is of major importance when defining how you grow as an adult. All up very good short read that helped changed my perspective
