Think silk is only for fancy occasions? 7 looks to prove you can wear it with just about anything

The versatility of silk is seriously underrated.

Blame it on the elegant sheen it gives off, its irresistibly smooth texture or the fact that it’s super comfy to wear – there’s just something about silk.

When you think of wearing this material, your brain probably goes straight to fancy pyjamas or 90s waifs with cocktails in hand. Or maybe to Carrie Bradshaw’s perfect white slip dress or Leandra Medine Cohen of Man Repeller fame’s unforgettable NYFW loungewear look

More recently, silk sets have become a favourite among fashion insiders, with tastemakers like Hailey Bieber and Gigi Hadid stepping out in head-to-toe silk. TikTok is also awash with silk trends and advice on how to wear popular items like ankle-grazing skirts.

The luxurious quality of silk can be intimidating to style. It’s a fabric that many of us associate with investment pieces reserved for events and occasion wear. But with a little creativity, it’s easy to incorporate silk into your everyday rotation.

To help you embrace the wardrobe all-rounder, we’ve put together seven looks that prove silk pairs well with just about anything. Each outfit is brought to you by beautiful jewel-toned deadstock silk sets from the RIISE x UNIKSPACE Exclusives collection, remixed with designer vintage pieces and capsule wardrobe staples.

Pump up the glamour with bold prints and serotonin-boosting colour or dress it down with an oversized hoodie and sneakers – no matter the mood or occasion, there’s a silk outfit to match.

Step up your work uniform with a silk blouse

S
ilk can make the most well-worn items in your wardrobe feel new again. If your workwear staples are no longer sparking joy, consider adding a silk blouse into your rotation.
This ruched ruby number will take that trusty black pants and blazer combo up a notch. Complete the look with a chunky heel (like these vintage YSL platforms) that will make after-work cocktails absolutely obligatory

Dress it down with an oversized hoodie and sneakers

Going all out with a luxe silk pant at events is great, but have you ever tried dressing it down with a hoodie? Equal parts comfortable and chic, this outfit will convince you to embrace silks casual side. The key to nailing the look is going big with extra wideleg pants and a loose-fitting hoodie plus crisp white sneakers for extra freshness. It takes inspiration from off-duty celebs getting papped en route to the coffee shop and will make you feel like the main character in your own movie.

Dial up the serotonin with bold colours

Dopamine dressing has reinvigorated our wardrobes of late. The basic principle is this: opt for saturated colours that will brighten your wardrobe and boost your mood. Here, hot pink and forest green set off the navy Ling Top beautifully. We recommend going for colour coordinated accessories to bring some uniformity to the looklike these vintage Louboutins for an extra pop of pink

Layer over turtlenecks for a chic winter outfit

Who said you couldn’t be warm and look fabulous? The oversized fit of this silk top makes it perfect for throwing over cosy winter dresses and knits. Whether you are looking for new styling ideas to take you through to the end of the season or just heading into winter, this head-turning fit will bring some much-needed diversity to your cool weather wardrobe.

Pair with metallic knits for parties

Metallics are all over the NYFW runways, from Serena Williamss silver cape moment to the tinsel-like knits at Eckhaus Latta. There’s something irresistibly fun about these shiny fabrics that pair perfectly with the natural glow of silk. Try the party-ready look at home by teaming silk with iridescent knits that will light up the dance floor.

Channel your fave fashion influencers with a graphic tee and trench

Ever find yourself stopping mid-scroll to admire the boxy cut of a vintage coat, a billowing pant or a cute, printed T-shirt? You’re not alone. These modern classics have become the go-to uniform for Instagram influencers and celebrities alike, and we’re not ashamed to say we’ve jumped on the bandwagon too. Recreate it with your “forever” trench coat, a tee and, of course, some excellent silk pants

Throw over a summer dress for a low-effort, high-impact look

Pairing vintage finds with newer items in your wardrobe can be a challenge. Our advice: don’t overthink it. Experiment with clashing styles to create playful looks that are totally unique to you. We channelled the fun, girly style of Harling Ross to create this look – a blend of cottagecore and grown-up glamour.
