Welcome to Found on Instagram, a series from the RIISE team that celebrates all the great Instagram brands and accounts we can’t stop DMing to each other.

Consider this your invite into our online world. Hopefully we can save you from the explore-page vortex by doing the endless scrolling (sorry, we mean thorough research) for you.

Everyone loves a good op shop or flea market trawl. There’s something gratifying about finding a vintage gem wedged between the racks IRL. But thrifting expeditions often require a lot of time – which not everyone has.

That’s why we’re all about virtual second-hand shopping. After welcoming you into this highly scrollable world last year, we’re back with another round of our favourite Instagram vintage clothing accounts. Whatever your vice – Dior, YSL, gaudy Y2K – your next coveted find is waiting online for you.

IONA MACLEAN

Iona MacLean makes Mondays a whole lot sweeter with its weekly drops of preloved clothing. With a strong focus on neutral tones, natural fibres and timeless staples, its picks are perfect for capsule wardrobe building. Think basic tees, vintage Levi’s and trans-seasonal slacks – pieces that will become lifelong companions. The store offers worldwide shipping which means you’ll be up against a whole heap of vintage lovers, so subscribe to the newsletter to be the first to know about new drops and sales.

GOODSHOP BADSHOP

If, like us, you’re loving the resurgence of Princess Diana’s 90s style, then Goodshop Badshop is an account you need to follow. Recreate her most iconic looks with items like this oversized jumper or these relaxed-fitting shirts – ideal for tucking into your favourite Lady Di–inspired denim jeans. Goodshop Badshop was founded in 2019 by vintage lover and photographer Lilly Ball who hand-selects all the vintage pieces, preferencing garments made from natural fabrics (like silk, cotton and linen) wherever possible.

ART GARMENTS

If your style is best described as eye-catching or eclectic, then you’ll find a lot to love in Art Garments’s fortnightly drops. So far, some of our favourite finds include this purple 80s wool vest, these metallic bronze leather trousers and these 2000s Dolce & Gabbana flared jeans. Oh, and this heavenly lemon Vera Wang number which has been viewed more times than we care to admit.

Founder Grace Corby has sold over 10,000 items since launching the online vintage shop, pieces that she’s sourced from all over the world. Even if the picks aren’t your style, Art Garments will surely spark sartorial creativity and give your wardrobe some fresh ideas.

ATIJỌ

A group of London-based fashion stylists founded atijọ in 2019 to bring new light to the landscape of preloved clothing. Combining a feed of beautifully composed editorial imagery and an optimistic colour palette, it’s a welcome change from the city’s well-known Camden markets. Still, in true London style, the site features pieces that are pragmatic and discreetly luxe, like these classic Prada boots and this Yves Saint Laurent trench.

Olivia Lila Lahood

OLIVIA LILA LAHOOD

It’s easy to dress like an A-lister if you’re shopping with Olivia Lila Lahood. Specialising in vintage and designer clothing, the online store has sold to celebs like Miley Cyrus, Solange Knowles and Georgia Fowler over the years. Drawing on star-inspired style, we can definitely see ourselves in this Emporio Armani olive blazer, Yves Saint Laurent wiggle dress (the perfect LBD) and Jean Paul Gaultier bikini.

The stunning curation of clothing and accessories is sourced by Olivia Lila Lahood herself, who founded the account as a passion project to challenge the stereotypes around buying second-hand. With an impeccable eye for detail, she’s managed to create a destination that makes “vintage look good as new” and shows that beautifully crafted pieces stand the test of time.

ELIA VINTAGE

If you’re wanting to recreate celebrity or influencer looks without the fast-fashion guilt, check out Elia Vintage. It’s a destination for bright colours and bold prints, which is a welcome step away from the neutral colour palette that has dominated wardrobes in the past couple of years. If you’re keeping an eye on this year’s trends then you’ll find a lot of garments to get creative with here, including crochet sets, casual trenches and these Y2K printed pants that have made a surprising revival.

TELLING TIME VINTAGE

Telling Time Vintage is the place to help you up your cool girl (or guy) ante. Everything is sourced, styled and shot by Melbourne-based creative Emma Rose Hosmer. The store specialises in those statement pieces you’ll treasure for years, like a leather trench coat or a one-of-a-kind two-piece suit. So far, we’ve added this extra-large shirt and oversized blazer to our wishlist (which is sure to grow with its latest 2022 collection dropping soon).

WASHINGTON AVE

No vintage account does dopamine dressing like Washington Ave. Founder Lakeitha Washington sources rare rainbow-hued finds from the 70s to the 90s, some of which she upcycles to better suit the modern woman. From its collection we’re loving these bright orange flares, this incredible geometric patchwork set and this reworked 70s African print combo. Extra points for its wider inclusion of sizing (up to XXL) which is often hard to find when shopping vintage.
